Scrap book from 2001-2002 US-France- Italy travels

These pictures were taken back when digital cameras were still pretty expensive and negatives were taken to photo centers for developing. I tried to keep most of my tickets and stubs, even admission buttons because I planned to put them in a scrapbook. I obviously need better scrap booking skills :)

For over a year after I came home from my trip, these pictures just sat inside boxes. Finally, one New Year's eve, with my sister's help, I sat down and finished cutting and pasting them all. When I was about to move to Singapore, I bribed my sister to scan all the pages for me since I don't have any room to spare on my already overweight luggage.

  4. I saw the Kiss in Singapore in 2002.. the feeling that marble looked so "alive" made me realize I could appreciate sculpture differently from the way I appreciate paintings..

  9. hay naku masarap magbabad sa MoMa lalo na pag kasama mo nakakaappreciate din ng art. Most people I know find it absolutely odd that I could go to museums everyday and spend all day there.

  12. I love monet too! His paintings have a mood uplifting effect on me. gusto ko ngang iuwi yung kanyang "Reflections of Clouds on the Water-Lily Pond" (http://ethelee.multiply.com/photos/album/52#63) na nasa MoMa eh

  13. This painting is really hard to see from up close. It's enclosed in a protective case, has stanchion posts so you can only go near up to a certain distance (it's not even arms length ata!) and there are multitudes of people trying to see it all at the same time. It kinda diminished my opportunity to appreciate it :(

  16. In this apple picking grove, you only pay for the apples you bring home with you. So we normally go from tree to tree trying to find one that bore the sweet ones. By the time we left, super fed up na ako kakain ng apples! I never thought that apple trees would be so small!

  17. I was so thrilled when I saw this because I remembered (its probably the only thing I remember about Zobel) that Rothko was among his inspirations. And yes, Zobel's works do have very obvious similarities with those of Rothko's. Ang galing!
