Museum Night October 2008

We went to the Museum Night of the Florida Museum of Natural History and Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art yesterday.

FLMNH's theme was Latin America so they had Cuban and Latino food, capoeira, samba and maculele performances from the Brazilian Cultural Art Exchange group, plus other games and trivia. They also had free admission to their latest exhibit "Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body.

Harn chose a 60's theme and had tie-dyed shirt-making and printing activities, a lecture, games and even a live band!

It was so much fun!!!

My attempt at graphic design

My boss (the Museum Studies program Director who I report to for my Graduate Assistanship) asked me to put together a newsletter for Museum Studies alumni. He gave me the freedom to conceptualize the format, contents, layout etc.

Here are the sort-of hilarious results of my attempt at artistry.

Fulbright UF gatherings

The 1st Fulbright UF welcome dinner was held at Debra's place. She is the Head of UF's International Office and she takes very good care of us Fulbrighters here in UF.

The 2nd Fulbright gathering was organized by Fulbright Alumni (Jean and Carlos) from UF and was held at the University Commons. They also organize trips outside of Gainesville every semester. On October 18, we, along with other Fulbrighters in Mid-Florida, are going to the Homosassa Springs State Park and Crystal River Archaeological State Park - yipeeee!
